There is the Assistant Instructor course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor program. From there you will go on to complete the Instructor Examination which is the final step in your IDC journey.

Did you know that Aqua Dive's Course Director Darrin Barker also owns and operates the shop, and he is also the service technician and the PADI DSAT Instructor for Aqua Dive. Yes Darrin wears many hat's but his passion is teaching Instructor programs and with his 30+ years of experience not only working in this industry but teaching it he has a lot of knowledge and stories to share. Darrin has used his experience to further teach new divers and taken them beyond that of just Open Water. At Aqua Dive we know you have a life out side of diving (I know it's not a fun as diving but hey!!). This is why we are very flexible when it comes to the schedule . We have set dates when the class and pool is running but we can work around your schedule if something was to come up. The IDC encompasses the AI as well.

The IDC elearning and the class portion is almost the same just a review of what you learned online. There is 16 sections in the elearning, and same within the class sessions. From there you will have to complete 3 knowledge development presentations, 4 confined water presentations, and 4 open water presentations.

Prerequisites:
1. PADI Divemaster, with a recognized recreational diver training organization
2. Age – minimum 18 years
3. Medical exam form signed by a physician within the last 12 months stating the individual is fit for scuba diving
4. Six months as a certified diver and 60 logged open water dives (100 logged dives required prior to taking an IE)
5. EFR Primary and Secondary Care course (or qualifying training) within the last 24 months
6. Documentation/proof of Open Water Diver, Advanced Open Water Diver and Rescue Diver certifications (or qualifying training).
You also need to be an Emergency First Response Instructor, but you can earn this rating during your instructor training.
As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you teach skills based on internationally recognized emergency care guidelines, and you can offer courses to anyone. The great thing about EFR courses is they make learning easy by providing a comfortable environment to practice emergency care skills. Your students finish the course feeling confident with their new skills and ready to help someone in need.

This will be a unique program offered in Calgary, something no other facility as offered before, backed with over 30+ years of experience by Darrin Barker and all his team at Aqua Dive.
It will take divers from Open Water Diver trough to Open Water Scuba Instructor and even beyond into Specialty Instructor. The program will be focused on key courses that you will need as well as additional hands-on experience such as in shop experience to learn about diving gear, and customer service. We will be also offering equipment manufacture courses to give instructors candidates more knowledge and experience with diving gear, and on-site repairs if needed.
This program will be an expanse over as much time as the student needs, taking in account fun diving to grow there experience and knowledge. Program will be scheduled so that students can join in the program right from Open Water level or at any level, and it will be structured to allow divers to complete there training both online through the PADI eLearning system and as well as in person.
